Opportunities to Serve & to Lead

There are so many ways to serve and lead at St. David’s!  Here are some ideas to get you going.  Information about many of these is on other pages of this website.

Governance
Serve on the Vestry
Serve on parish committees & task forces
Be a delegate to Diocesan Convention

Worship
Sing with the choir
Play handbells or other instruments
Read the Sunday lessons and psalm
Serve Communion wine
Help plan and lead a seasonal Celtic Celebration service
Decorate and care for our worship space
Welcome people to Sunday services

Education
Help with a Sunday School class
Add your voice to the Sunday adult class discussion
Suggest an adult class topic, and maybe help teach it
Serve a turn keeping the library attractive and in order
Help set up class meetings on Zoom

Fellowship
Host a coffee hour
Make new friends at the men's gathering
Bring a dish to a potluck dinner
Suggest somewhere for a nature outing
Share your favorite crafts with someone

Caring
Take Eucharist to sick or elderly members
Visit or chat by phone with shut-ins
Help host the reception after a funeral
Deliver food to a member just home from the hospital
Knit or crochet a prayer shawl
Pray for those who ask for our prayers
Call others on the telephone prayer line

Service in the community:
Make quilts for the needy
Help plan and host, or clean up after a fundraising event
Deliver donated items to Caritas or Hope House
Feed Habitat Blitz builders
Share meals and conversation with homeless people
Read stories with Linwood Elementary students
Volunteer with the Spokane Riverkeepers
Be a part of Spokane Alliance action

Service at St. David’s:
Mow the lawn (with the riding lawnmower!)
Weed planting beds and trim plants
Rake pine needles on a cleanup day
Shovel snow from steps and ramp
Fix, repair, and spruce up things that need it
