Caritas Outreach Ministries serves Northwest Spokane with emergency assistance for families in crisis, utility assistance, transportation and a necessities/food bank connected with Spokane’s Second Harvest Inland Northwest.
St. David’s has been a supporter of Caritas since its beginning. Our members donate food which is taken to Caritas each week. St. David’s members volunteer in the Caritas office and in the food bank section. See St. David's member RoseAnn Barks, Caritas board member, for more information and to find out how you can help.

Linwood Elementary School
906 W. Weile Ave., Spokane, 99208 (right next door, across our parking lot!)
St. David's partnership with Linwood Elementary School provides assistance when and where it is needed. Our volunteers work one on one with students who struggle with reading to help them become more proficient and confident. If you’d like to help with math, that assistance can also be used! Please talk with Beth Bornhoft if you’d like to join the mentors.
St. David's members have also donated hundreds of children's books for various events. We collect school supplies in the fall and donate other items that the school particularly needs for the children. We also give money to the school for two major projects – school T-shirts (so that all students, regardless of ability to pay) can have an annual school shirt for school spirit and fun; and holiday help (for students and families to be able to afford food and gifts in the holiday season).

Current campaigns are in the areas of community health monitoring, health care access, good jobs and public benefits, and housing equity.

Salish School of Spokane
4125 N Maple St, Spokane, WA 99205
509-325-2018
Salish School of Spokane is a grassroots, non-profit organization working to preserve and revitalize four Southern Interior Salish languages, the first languages of the Spokane region:
n̓səl̓xčin̓ (Colville-Okanagan Salish) - about 30 living first-language fluent Elder speakers, most in B.C.
n̓xaʔm̓xčín̓ (Wenatchi-Columbian Salish) - no living first-language speakers
n̓sélišcn̓ (Spokane-Kalispel-Bitterroot Salish) - about 15 living first-language fluent Elders, most in Montana.
sn̓čic̓úʔum̓šc̓n̓ (Coeur d’Alene Salish) - no living first-language speakers
These languages are critically endangered, with only a handful of native first language speakers still living. By developing curriculum and teachers, SSOS is working to revitalize them and the cultures they represent. Several St. David's members help to support them financially and by working to develop relationships and cultural understanding.
