Pastoral Care Ministries
Friendly Visitors
The Friendly Visitors is made up of dedicated people who are committed to a special ministry. The list of those who are unable to attend church on a regular basis is divided into groups of two to four. Each lay minister is assigned a group to visit one or two times a month, or more if they like. There are also members who would rather not visit and so they make telephone calls and/or send birthday, anniversary, holiday, get-well, and other cards. At Christmas the Friendly Visitors deliver poinsettias to those who cannot attend church.
Caring Friends
Caring Friends is an assistance group that helps St. David's families and individuals in crisis situations. Caring Friends is a way a person can fulfill Jesus' commandment to love one's neighbor as oneself.
One of the main functions of the group is to put on receptions after funerals at the church. There are three choices of menu: (1) cookies with coffee, tea and punch; (2) cookies and finger sandwiches with beverages; and (3) a full dinner.
The group's other main function is bringing food to families when someone comes home from the hospital after surgery or any illness.
If you'd like to join either the Friendly Visitors or the Caring Friends, call the church office or send an e-mail message.
