Adult Education -- Sundays

Each Sunday, adults gather at both 9 & 11:00 a.m. immediately following the 8 &10 a.m. worship services for an educational presentation and discussion. The group meets in the conference room just off our fellowship hall. All are welcome to join this on-going discussion group anytime.  Programs have included book studies led by our Rector, topic discussions on social justice issues led by our deacons and other lay people, and several video series.

The Next Series begins September 19

SUNDAY MORNINGS AT 9 & 11 A.M.

To Serve and Guard the Earth: God’s Creation Story and Our Environment

This class uses a brand new ecumenical curriculum published by the Episcopal Church. The series focuses on the creation story in Genesis and our responsibility as stewards of creation. The same class will be offered each Sunday, so participants can choose to attend the session that best fits their schedule on any given Sunday. Teachers for this series are The Rev. Finn Pond and The Rev. Char Mills. Drop-ins welcome.

CELTIC BOOK STUDY

The Celtic Way of Prayer:

The Recovery of the Religious Imagination

By Esther de Waal

This book explores the rich legacy of Celtic songs, poems, prayers, and blessings that grew out of the dynamic meeting of Christian monasticism with an older, communal way of life ordered by kinship, a rural sense of place, the pattern of the seasons, and the cycles of birth and death.

Travis library
Located on the lower level of our parish hall, the Travis library was established in memory of the Rev. Ronald James Travis, a 27-year member of St. David's.  Ron was ordained a deacon in 1981, and died in 1998.  He was an avid reader and many of his religion books were donated to the library.

The library has a unique color-coded classification system that makes it easy to find what you're looking for.  It is maintained by volunteer members of the Library Committee, on a 3-month rotation.   Being a church library, it contains both fiction and non-fiction resources primarily on religious and spiritual topics.  Books and other resources are donated by parish members, who then feel a part of the library and check out more books themselves - a win-win situation!

Current selections are displayed atop the shelving units by the windows, and on a display shelf in the hallway outside the library.  The check-out book is on the counter, ready for your entry.
